  • get the other person to say ‘yes yes’ immediately
  • Let the other person feel that the idea is his or hers
  • appeal to nobler motives

Ways to change people without giving offense or arousing resentment

  • call attention to people’s mistakes indirectly
  • Talk about your own mistakes before criticizing the other person
  • Ask questions instead of giving orders
  • Let the other person save face
